Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Tinubu will swear in a new group of ministers on Monday, following the confirmation by the Senate of the nominees last week.

The announcement was made on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

The list of appointees includes Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labor and Employment, and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. Other notable appointments include Dr. Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha as Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Abdullahi Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development; and dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad as Minister of State for Education.

The nominees received Senate confirmation on Wednesday after detailed screening during the plenary meeting. Some nominees, who had previously held government positions, were only asked to introduce themselves before being excused from further questioning.

Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, representing Anambra, during her presentation before the Senate, drew attention to the underfunded state of Nigerian embassies abroad. She described the facilities as “deplorable” and do not reflect Nigeria’s global position. She called for better financing and renovations and urged lawmakers to support an enabling environment for foreign diplomacy.

Stressing a renewed commitment to public service, Bianca said: “If we are committed to serving this nation with the aim of promoting peace, we will prevail.”
